Brazoria County
Bluegrass Club - August 9, 2008
|
|
The August show
and jam for the Brazoria County Bluegrass Club was Saturday,
August 9, 2008 at the American Legion Hall in West
Colombia, Texas. This will be the final 2nd
Saturday Show and Jam as it is being
discontinued. Many factors were involved in
making this decision. The fans have enjoyed over
30 years of this free show and have shown their
appreciation to Jimmy Fischer and the Saltgrass Band
for their keeping this show going while maintaining a
busy schedule playing their commitments in Oklahoma,
Louisiana and Texas. The fans made up a thank
you card and placed it on the wall for all to
sign. The fans know they will still be seeing
Saltgrass at their many performances throughout the
tri-state area.

George Hansen and Saltgrass
|
|
George Hansen was
an original Saltgrass Band member and was with
Saltgrass when they played on the Grand Ole Opry.
He joined Saltgrass on stage tonight performing many
of the old songs from his days with Saltgrass and from
his Latest CD with the group Allen's Landing.
Great Job.

|
|
Pet Rooster
|
| Pet Rooster was
the second group to play. The band consists of
Jay Richardson (banjo), Kathy Richardson (bass), David
Mintz (guitar) and sitting in with them was Jay and
Kathy's son Lucas (mandolin), home from college for a
few days. They pointed out that they got their
start as a band eleven years right here on the stage
of the 2nd Saturday Show and Jam, when Jimmy
encouraged them to get up on the stage and
perform. Great Job..

|
The Saltgrass Band
|
|
The Saltgrass Band
played a very long set. The band played several
songs that have been fan favorites for a long
time. The fans made many requests and kept the
evening going as long as they could. A great
time was had by all and we are looking forward to
seeing Saltgrass at the festivals and other local
shows. Great Job.

Doyle Marshall lost his battle with cancer
October 21, 2007. Doyle was a good friend,
fellow musician, and the best soundman in the
country. Our hearts and prayers go out the
Doyle's family. He will be truly missed by all
of those who knew and loved him. |
